Remembering the past.........
Tomorrow 30th June will be Amsyar 5th birthday. Every year, his birthday will bring me back to an event that will be forever etched inside my mind....Early June 1998; My late mom was admitted in ICU at TTSH because of blood clot in the brain. As a result she was semi paralysed. I, dh and Wardah who was only 1 and half then visited her daily. My brothers Abg Shah and my sil Kak Ros & Abg Din and my sil - Nani who was in her advanced stage in her 1st pregnancy also visited my mom daily without fail.
After 2 weeks in ICU, she showed sign of recovery and was transferred to the normal ward. After one week in the normal ward, the doctor decided to transfer her to Ang Mo Kio Community Hospital for her physical therapy.
Everything was going smoothly and she showed great improvement after only a few days there. We siblings were looking forward for her full recovery. She also insisted that she wanted to be discharged so that she can visited my sil - Nani when she gave birth.
Then after only 1 week at AMKCH, I received a call, that Saturday morning from AMKCH that my mom collapsed during her bath and was rushed back to TTSH ICU. When we reach at the ICU, we were devastated to find her condition was even worst than before. She was on life support machine and her face was bloated. The doctor said that her chances of survival this time was very slim.
Sunday night came and she was still fighting for her life and not giving up. At that that we siblings and spouses were discussing maybe something she wished was not yet fulfilled. The next evening my sil- Nani was admitted to Gleneagles bcos of contraction and also her due date was 3 days overdue. Since Abg Din had to accompany Nani, Abg Shah had to stay alone overnight at the TTS. My family and me went back home around midnight .
The next morning about 7am Abg Shah called that my mom condition had become worst. Sembawang being a new housing estate, we had difficulty getting a taxi. Alas when we reach TTS, we were too late. My mom had just passed away. I asked Abg Shah where was Abg Din? . Abg Shah said Abg Din could not made it bcos sil- Nani had just gave birth to baby girl around 5.40am.
Abg Shah also told me that just before our mom passed away, he whispered to my mom that Nani had given birth and everybody was healthy and safe . At that moment he said tears began running out from her eyes. When everybody heard that we started crying. Now that we know her wished was fulfilled, she was ready to go peacefully.
On the 30th Jun 1998, we gained a new member of our family but lost our beloved mother within a few hours. Yes Amsyar shares his birthday with his cousin Nurul Zayanah and my mom kembalinya ke rahmatullah. Not only that... My mom was pronounced dead on 30th Jun 1998 at 7.46 am, and Amsyar was born on 30th Jun 1999 at 7.46am
